A Canisol Underfloor Heating System consists of a heating cable manufactured from a pair of twisted and braided stranded wires made of copper or other special alloys, thin profile (3mm-4.5mm), insulated, metallic screened and plastic jacketed. The Canisol Heating System Nominal Output is 150W/m2 There are two types of Heating Systems: (i) Cable Kit ii) Heating Mat

A Canisol Cable Kit is a loose Heating Cable System. Canisol Heating Mats consist of a Heating Cable attached to a fiberglass open mesh backing factory set to specific spacing (between 60mm-100mm) to achieve equal heat distribution and consistent output of 150 watts per m2.

For small or geometrically complicated areas or areas with many stationary features (like bathrooms) the Canisol Cable Kit is the answer. For larger areas Underfloor Cable Heating mats are the ideal solution. The Canisol Cable Kit requires even spacing and taping down onto the heating insulation or sub-floor to hold it in place prior to floor covering. Canisol Underfloor Heating Mats are the professional choice, pre-spaced and fast to lay; they only require laying out. Floor covering can commence straight away without the need to set the correct spacing or be concerned about spacings that could be inadvertently altered before the floor covering is completed.

Canisol heating products can cover up to 24m2 (150W/m2) in one product and per thermostat of a 16 Amp load. To cover larger areas, a combination of products and thermostats that establish multi-heating zones should be used.

Can the heating cables be cut to length if too long?

|
NEVER. Under no circumstances can underfloor heating cables be cut to length. For Cable Kits, the floor spacing pitch can be adjusted closer together down to a minimum of 50mm. This will result in a higher wattage output per m˛. If underfloor cable heating mats are too long, select the size of heating mat closest to your size (smaller) from the Canisol range. In addition, you can detach the excess cable from the mat and spread it on the floor in regular loops identical to those on the mat. To keep the minimum distance from the walls and between parallel runs of cable (radius bending of at least 20 mm [3/4"] for loops).

How fast will my covered floor get warm with Canisol Heating Mats?

It depends on several factors, such as the sub-floor type and insulation. A cement sub-floor will be slow to warm without a thermal insulation barrier, creating a significant drag on the performance of the floor heating. A layer of high quality insulation will have a dramatic effect in these circumstances, speeding up the initial warm up times to within 20-30 minutes.

When installing flooring above underfloor heating, it is recommended to use a plastic trowel. Any damage by the sharp edge of a traditional steel trowel may result in damage to the outer, protective jacket of the underfloor heating cable. This could eventually result in future failure of the underfloor heating cable. To ensure that the underfloor heating system is correctly installed you will also require an Ohmmeter or Multimeter to take a resistance reading, prior to floor covering.

All underfloor cable heating mats come with an installation manual. Most small to medium size underfloor cable heating systems can be installed on a DIY basis but it is recommended that a fully qualified electrician connects the cable heating system to the household mains. Larger areas will need careful planning due to the extra electricity loading calculations that will be required. A separate power supply may be needed for large under floor cable heating installations.

It is highly recommended that you connect your underfloor heating system via a fused spur (to isolate the heating system for future maintenance). The power supply should run from a safety contact breaker (RCD) to the thermosta. An electrician can advise you.

For single, loose laid underfloor cable heating systems it is usual to pour a leveling compound screed over the floor area to the depth of the heating cables, to fix and fully encapsulate the heating cable; tiling can commence as a separate operation. For heated cable mats the heating cables are secure within the heating mat backing. The tiler can commence with the flexible floor tile adhesive and tiling operation as soon as the underfloor cable heating system is fitted.

Yes. Canisol Heating Systems are completely waterproof, and therefore applicable to all wet rooms. Even in case of under floor flood, our system will be safe and will be "part of the solution by drying the humidity being caught. It is to mention that Canisol Heating Systems are being tested while immerged in water tanks before final Q.A. approval.

This is possible but there are a number of extra steps involved. All underfloor heating cables require full encapsulation. The application of a leveling compound screed will be necessary to prepare the heated floor prior to laying the underlay and laminate flooring.

Yes. This is possible but be aware that the laws of science state that heat will always be attracted towards cold. Heat energy will dissipate into the sub-floor, requiring more heat energy to heat the floor up to the desired temperature.

Connecting a 120V product to a 240V current will overheat the system and lead to a power failure. A 240V product connected to a 120V current will produce virtually no heat. It is therefore very important to connect the product to the right voltage.
